Steam is coming to Linux and is currently in beta. I've installed it on my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, however I was not one of the lucky 1000 users (out of 60000) that got selected for the beta. More are being added and hopefully I will have a chance to try it out prior to release.

Testing so far...

Team Fortress 2 works flawlessly, but you have to set the Steam set launch option to -nojoy. Apparently, there is a bug that attempts to use a joystick that will crash the game and prevent it from starting.
Team Fortress 2 Beta works as well, using the above mentioned launch option
Amnesia - The Dark Descent works but only if you know where to click the launch game button, as the Steam launcher menu is a black window (no fix yet, hey, this is beta!)
The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles works very well, but you have to disable the Steam community in game pop up feature. This looks like a very interesting game.
World of Goo works well and my daughter likes it. Looks very interesting but I have yet to try it.
Unity of Command: Stalingrad Campaign works but I've not tested game play yet.
Waveform works but again no game time on it yet.

Still testing but having fun! This is an interesting time to be a Linux gamer as this kind of software delivery system is really starting to become popular.

Finally, a funny video from the heavy NPC in TF2. Still makes me laugh :)

Half Life and Counter Strike now in Beta for Linux! These are native running clients!! For those that may not be aware of gaming on Linux, this is a HUGE step towards commercial support of gaming on my favorite OS!!
