Originally written by Kindlen, but it was never really finished, and I have tweaked it a bit... This is still a work in progress!

Imperial Defenders Charter

Introduction
Imperial Defenders is many things to many people. This document will attempt to describe the kind of guild that the officers feel Imperial Defenders (from here on refered to as ID) should strive to become.

This is a living document and will be reviewed occasionally during officers meetings to make sure it reflects the existing understanding of how the guild is to operate and how the guild is to behave. It is exected that all members of Imperial Defenders will read, understand, and abide by the letter and intent of this charter.

Charter
Imperial Defenders is a guild that:
  • contains like-minded members looking for a safe and friendly place to play the game of World of Warcraft.
  • expects its members to behave in a mature and professional manner while still having fun. This includes keeping /g chat and vent/teamspeak free of explicit words, slurs of any kind, and all things that may be deemed inappropriate to our younger members.
  • provides the chance for our members to gain access to end game content through our participation in the Small Guild Alliance

Membership Responsibilities
Each member should make every effort to follow these guidelines.
  • Treat each other with respect.
  • Show up for raids/events if they sign up for them on time and in a condition to succeed at that event.
  • Treat each other with respect.
  • Have fun.
  • Act with maturity.
  • Treat each other with respect.
  • Let an officer know if they feel that their needs are not being met.
  • Be patient with each other when facing adversity.
  • Be a member in the ID community by staying active in the forums and in guild activities.
New recruits are eligible for promotion after 1 week. To be given membership status, recruits must:
  • Sign the guild charter
  • Participate in 2 level-appropriate instance runs/group quests with at least 1 veteran or higher involved in each.

Veteran Responsibilities
Veterans are guild members that have been with the guild for an extended period of time and have proven their ability to follow the guild charter over many many months of game play. These members have shown the true spirit of ID and have gone above and beyond in helping their fellow guildmates. To be promoted to veteran, you must also be active on the guild forums. On top of normal member responsibilities the veterans are responsible for:
  • Promoting the guild and mentoring new members (both individually and as a whole).
  • When mentoring new members veterans should:
    • Get to know the new member by talking to them and reading their application on the website.
    • Help them set up both gem channels and get on the asga chat channel.
    • Encourage them to read and post on the forums.
    • Help them along on their way to the goals listed on their app.
    • Making sure they get into an instance run or two with some officers so they can become full members!

Advisor Responsibilities
Advisors are members who at one point or another were officers and have chosen either to step down or to move their mains elsewhere, such as one of our allied guilds. These members continue to have close ties to ID via their alts and the IDgem channel. On top of normal member responsibilities the advisors are responsible for:
  • Promoting the guild.
  • Encouraging interguild relations between their main guild and ID.
  • Advising officers in important decisions.
  • Answering class specific questions.
  • Addressing guild concerns when no officers are available.

Officer Responsibilities
All officers are encouraged to lead at least one guild instance run per week. Officers have additional responsibilities associated with the daily running of the guild.
  • Promote the guild, invite, and mentor new members.
  • Maintain positive interguild relations with all allied guilds, such as (but not limited to) Double Entendre, Avatars of Truth, and ASGA guilds.
  • Verify that all recruits have completed an application on the forums in a timely manner.
  • Attend a monthly meeting of officers to discuss issues that have been brought up by members.
  • Keep the online roster and event data up to date on a daily basis.
  • Additional responsibilities per title:
    • Membership officer: Determines recruiting status of the guild, posts the initial new recruit status thread, & makes sure that new recruits have completed the minimum requirements before becoming members.
    • Technical Advisor: Is familiar with guild and raiding required addons such as TS, Vent, and CT RA, and troubleshoots problems members have with them. Also assists GM with keeping memberlist on the website current (free of spammers).
    • Bank Administrator: Deals with guild bank issues & decides on bank policies.
    • Instance Officer: Coordinates regular instance runs & assists players in key quest chains.

I forgot to post last night that my edit was to include the conditions necessary for a recruit to become a member.
